SJOEN
The Sjoen Candle Holder is part of the series inspired by the sea and its ever-shifting movement.
Each piece has gentle variations in form and surface that make it unique.
The soft, flowing lines echo the rhythm of waves and the stillness that follows. Both daylight and candlelight interact with the form, revealing shifting expressions as light moves across the raw, unglazed surface.
SJOEN ASANE
This freestanding sculpture takes its name from an Estonian Swedish expression meaning “the sea in morning light.”
Inspired by the forms of the sea, it moves like a wave in the light of dawn and is created as part of the Sjoen series.
Its form is soft and restrained, tranquil yet powerful, like the sea in the early hours of the morning.
In the raw, unglazed surface of the stoneware, the light is captured and transforms the expression throughout the day. Shadows emerge and fade, and the sculpture shifts in rhythm with the movement of light.
The piece is created to let light act as a co-creator, where every change brings new moods and new ways to experience its form.
SJOEN AUSTRE
The name means roughly “the sea in the east” in Estonian Swedish. It refers to the open water beyond the archipelago, where the horizon begins.
The form is inspired by the movement of the sea and the constant shifting of the waves. This piece is part of the Sjoen series and was created as a sea of waves – sometimes calm, sometimes wild, always in motion and transformation.
In the raw, unglazed surface of the stoneware, the light is captured as it moves throughout the day, changing the expression of the piece. Shadows emerge, dissolve, and reappear, and the work seems to breathe in rhythm with the light.
In this way, both the piece and the space around it become ever-changing, as if they share a pulse.
The forms are created to let light act as a co-creator – it is through its shifting presence that the work finds its full expression.
